Disenchanted. That was me with my first childbirth experience. I couldn’t say what was wrong, but I knew there had to be a better way. In a landscape where childbirth often feels dictated by systemic pressures, I finally recognized a significant gap—women’s experiences weren’t being prioritized enough. So, I founded Modern Traditions to address the evolving needs of women today.
With a background in anthropology and research spanning over 15 years and a transition into the medical field, including nursing, I bring a unique perspective to the table. My journey, coupled with training as a women’s advocate in challenging situations, led me to champion a holistic, respectful approach to childbirth—one that honors the innate wisdom of a woman’s body and empowers her to navigate childbirth (within the medical system and outside of it) on her terms.
As the mother of four babies who has personally experienced all three ways to birth, I understand the physical and emotional complexities of motherhood. I know just how delicate, powerful, and altering those experiences are and I aim to give women the resources and support they need to claim their own incredible experience.
